What would you do if you found out your best friend is being bullied? Would you try to stop it? Would you ignore it and let them fend for themselves? How would you feel if they were considering self harm over it? How many people do you think go through things like this?
Bullying Statistics as of 2011:
- 1 out of 4 teenagers are getting bullied.
- 160,000 students stay home everyday because of a fear of getting bullied.
- 282,000 students are physically attacked each year.
- 21% of kids have received a threatening e-mail.
- 97% of middle school students have admitted to have been bullied online.- 20% of high school students said they have considered suicide in the last twelve months.
Those are only the kids who actually had the guts to speak out about it. Think about all of the kids who couldn't talk about it because they were too afraid or too embarrassed.
This pie chart represents the reactions of people who have been bullied. Seeing that only a small fraction of the people who were being bullied reacted, it shows that people try to avoid more confrontation with their bully, the person they fear the most.
I think that bullying is very cruel. I feel like that the percentage of kids that get bullied often is slowly rising. AS our society advances there are more acts of cruelty taking place.
ReplyDeleteI think that bullying is horrible. The amount of kids that are dying from it is disgusting and it says a lot about our society. I really think that something should be done to stop it.
